A history that belongs to Motril
Devotion to the Holy Burial has its roots in the religious traditions of the Church of the Incarnation and runs through centuries of history, transformation and rebuilding.

The origins of the Holy Burial
The procession became established as a city celebration linked to the rite of the Descent from the Cross and the memory of the Passion.

Our mission
The Cofradía del Santo Sepulcro y Nuestra Señora de los Dolores de Motril is a nonprofit religious organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the Catholic faith, conserving and sharing our religious and cultural heritage, encouraging the formation and participation of our members, and serving the Motril community through religious, educational, cultural, youth and social action activities.
Worship and sacramental life
We take an active part in the religious life of our community, promoting worship, prayer and participation in liturgical celebrations. Every Good Friday we hold our Station of Penance and also take part in celebrations such as Corpus Christi.
Evangelization activities
Throughout the year we celebrate services and activities belonging to the Brotherhood, including the Stations of the Cross, the Triduum in honor of our Sacred Images and services dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, alongside other moments of prayer and devotion.
Christian formation
We organize Christian formation activities, courses aimed especially at young people, formation gatherings and lectures that deepen understanding of the faith, our history and religious heritage.
Religious and cultural heritage
We work to conserve, protect and share the Brotherhood's religious, historical and cultural heritage, while promoting knowledge of our traditions in Motril.
Social action and service
We develop solidarity and community support initiatives, including charity sweet sales supporting the Nazarene Sisters, collaborations with social organizations such as the Jesús Abandonado Social Dining Hall in Motril, and financial contributions to help meet the needs of our church.
Youth and volunteering
We encourage young people and volunteers to take part in the life of the Brotherhood through educational, religious, cultural and solidarity activities, creating spaces for fellowship, responsibility and service to others.
